If you don’t yet know My Business My Mission, (2009, Grand Rapids, MI: Partners Worldwide), it’s a must-read. If more did what is described in this book, it would be a global economic game-changer. It describes a series of case studies/models about how American Christian businessmen and women have used their business skills and funds to help emerging entrepreneurs launch new businesses in the developing world–from ones with two sewing machines to sizable firms. “Service” is no longer only alms-giving but enabling emerging entrepreneurs to become self-sufficient, grow, and to train others to do so as well. You might call it the democratization of opportunity motivated and sustained by faith.
